Report prepared by the Economic Department of the Agriculture Federation of the State of São Paulo (FAESP) regarding prices paid to São Paulo producers showed a drop in most products. Of 28 items surveyed, 16 showed a decline in June, while 12 recorded an increase. “The report showed that agricultural producers are not the biggest culprits for inflation, despite being pressured by rising inputs and high interest rates charged on bank loans”, says the president of the Agriculture Federation of the State of São Paulo, Fábio de Salles Meirelles.

Price data sources are from CONAB and CEPEA/ESALQ/USP. The biggest monthly drops were in silver bananas (-13,32%), latex rubber (-11,46%), curly lettuce (-10,42%), Tahiti lemon (-9,89%), iceberg lettuce ( -9,25%) and pear orange (-7,48%).

The biggest increases in the month were in dwarf bananas (+24,60%), sweet potatoes (26,31%), Arabica coffee and pork (both with +5,70%), wheat (+5,67%) and milk (+5,24%).
