Mosaic Fertilizers, Zaraplast and Braskem launch new bags with the potential to avoid the emission of more than 100 tons of CO2 in 2023

Mosaic Fertilizers, producer of combined phosphates and potassium, launched a new bag with recycled content with a capacity of 50kg. The adoption of the new sustainable packaging is aligned with the company's management, business and sustainability strategy, based on ESG principles, which have already prevented an estimated value of more than 65 thousand kg of carbon dioxide from being emitted.

The initiative continues the partnership between Mosaic Fertilizers, Zaraplast and Braskem. The companies also innovated in 2022 by developing the first polypropylene big bags with a capacity of 1 ton produced with Braskem's Wenew post-consumer recycled content (PCR). Now, the new packaging, a raffia bag with a capacity of 50kg, is produced with 25% Wenew post-consumer recycled resin (PCR) in its composition.

In total, R$30 million reais were invested in the initiative, which includes contributions to reception centers (cooperatives) for reverse logistics. With the new 50kg bags, Mosaic Fertilizers will purchase five times more sustainable packaging from Zaraplast per year, 1 million big bags and another 1,5 million new bags.

To date, with the 100 packages already shipped, the reduction in CO2 emissions corresponds to more than 90 tons and 110 tons of natural resources, this volume will increase with the completion of the process.
