After records in 2020 and 2021, agricultural GDP falls 4,22% in 2022
The main basis for the downward scenario in 2022 is the sharp rise in input costs in the sector, both in agriculture and agro-industries, which has eroded GDP along the chains
Mosaic Fertilizers presents Performa Bio during the Safra Show (March 21st to 24th, Lucas do Rio Verde – MT). The solution is the first solid mineral fertilizer on the Brazilian market with technology that balances, restores and strengthens the soil's microbial biodiversity.
“Mato Grosso has stood out as a leader in soybean production and this innovation will generate a lot of interest during the event due to its potential to contribute to the State reaching new production records. We are excited to welcome the public and show the results of this unique launch in the Brazilian market”, says Marcos Rodrigues, the company's research manager.
Currently the largest national producer of soybeans and among the world's main producers of the grain, Mato Grosso's 2022/23 state harvest is expected to reach a record 44,3 million tons, according to an estimate from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics ( Imea). The expectation for corn is 46,4 million tons. “With the use of technological fertilizers to promote soil health and provide nutrients to plants, we have no doubt that these numbers will be reached”, considers Rodrigues.
With results confirmed by 85 experiments in three harvests (2019/20 to 2021/22) and in nine states, Performa Bio stimulates the restoration of the activity of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, increasing the absorption capacity and use of nutrients, increasing, consequently, the level of productivity and sustainability of food production systems. Gains in soybeans were 5,1 bags per hectare, and in corn they exceeded 14 bags per hectare (14,7 sc/ha, summer corn). “The numbers show that the investment will be reflected in profitability for the farmer, but also longevity of land use, efficiency and operational income will be notable”, highlights Rodrigues.
In addition to the technology that directly contributes to soil health, Performa Bio offers a high concentration of nutrients, phosphorus and highly efficient sulfur, promoting planting in less time and greater use of nutrients in the crop cycle. The uniform particle size, superior physical quality and perfect nutritional and biological balance generate fluid application in the field, ease of handling, increased productivity and soil quality.
The development and launch of Performa Bio reinforces Mosaic Fertilizers' mission to help the world produce the food it needs and the ESG strategy's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG) (Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture). "The entire volume of Performa Bio that leaves our company is housed in a sustainable big bag, made of post-consumer recycled resin in raffia [PCR]", highlights Rodrigues. Mosaic Fertilizers started using it in November 2022 and, since then, is a pioneer in its use. In partnership with suppliers, it will reach the milestone of reducing the emission of more than 167 thousand kilos of CO2, the same as 12.700 trips around planet Earth in a passenger vehicle. In a second phase of the project, the volume can grow due to the increase in the reverse logistics chain, reaching one thousand tons of post-consumer recycled raw material.
