Continuity of La Niña favors the current coffee harvest
The continuation of the drier climate, consequently with low relative humidity, may contribute to improving the quality of the coffee being harvested this season
This month, more than 92 thousand farmers in Bahia and Minas Gerais will receive the benefit of Garantia-Safra, according to Ordinance No. 279. The authorization was published on Wednesday (18/05) by the Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa). The amount in appeal will reach more than R$78 million.
As a result of measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, full payment of the benefit will be made in a single installment of R$850.
The objective of Garantia-Safra is to certify the food security of family farmers who live in regions at risk of crop loss, due to drought or floods. Farmers with a monthly income of up to one and a half minimum wages are entitled to receive the benefit when they have production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%. The Harvest Guarantee benefit is made available in accordance with the social benefit payment schedule.
Farmers adhering to Garantia-Safra who had the granting of the benefit blocked in municipalities with payment authorization in the month of May/2022 must comply with the guidelines set out in Ordinance No. 25, of July 08, 2020, to regularize the benefit.
If the benefit is blocked, the farmer must access his profile in the Garantia-Safra Management System, clicking this link, and check the reason for the block by checking the notification on the profile. The farmer will have up to 30 days, after the publication of the Ordinance authorizing the payment of the benefit, to express his opinion regarding the blockade, through the service “Request a Defense Request after Blocking the Harvest Guarantee Benefit”, on the Gov.br platform
The list of farmers who had the benefit blocked, as a precautionary measure, will be forwarded by the State Coordinations to municipal managers.
Other information about Garantia-Safra can be requested from the Mapa Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives by email at garantiasafra.cgs@agro.gov.br or by telephone (61) 3218-3319.
