The National Monetary Council (CMN) authorized, through CMN Resolution No. 5162, financial institutions to extend the bank debts of rural producers in Rio Grande do Sul until September 16th.

The Resolution is valid for the suspension of installments and interest on rural credit operations for funding, investment and industrialization that had due dates between May 1st and September 15th, and which are in default on April 30th of this year.

Previously, the Federal Government had authorized renegotiations until August 15th for municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul that were declared in a state of emergency or state of calamity. The new measure for September applies to all municipalities that have been decreed by July 31, 2024.

This is another of the actions aimed at the state after the heavy rains that occurred between April and May this year. On Tuesday (13), the Decree was released that regulates the renegotiation of rural credit debts for funding, investment and industrialization.

Minister Carlos Fávaro also met with deputies from the Rio Grande do Sul bench to discuss other measures to support producers. This week, the National Congress Bill (PLN) should be voted on to deny the registration of Individual Taxpayers (CPFs) in the face of credit restriction companies. The objective of the PLN is for citizens of Rio Grande do Sul to have access to the measures published by the Federal Government in financial institutions.

It is also planned to publish the Provisional Measure in the Official Gazette of the Union, which will authorize the release of around R$1,8 billion to trim the measures of Decree No. 12.138.
