Mirella Lisboa was appointed BASF Open Innovation Manager for Latin America. She will lead AgroStart, the global open innovation platform of BASF's Agricultural Solutions Division. The initiative accelerates startups for agribusiness, supporting intrapreneurship, co-creation with companies in the sector and investment in venture capital, informs the company.

Lisboa, co-founder of onono, BASF's center for scientific and digital experiments, is an enthusiast of open innovation as a tool to transform society. With a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), she served as Head of Corporate Success and Open Innovation at Cubo Itaú.

The new manager plans to strengthen ties with the startup community and strengthen AgroStart's intrapreneurship. "We will have new classes at Garagem Agro in the second half of this year", said Lisboa. She added that, in the medium and long term, BASF seeks to get closer to ecosystem partners who want to co-innovate, launching joint challenges for the startup market and exchanging experiences and lessons learned.

However, 2023 presents challenges in the macroeconomic scenario that require careful analysis of investments in innovation. "It's time to apply the lessons learned from acceleration programs in recent years to ensure that investments bring a real return to the organization in times of scarcity", concluded the manager.
