The Secretariat of International Agribusiness Relations (SRI) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) presented this Thursday (28), in Brasília, the new version of the Brazilian agribusiness foreign trade statistics system, AgroStat Brasil . The changes include a more modern look, greater agility in queries, search for embarkation and disembarkation ports in Brazil and no need to register users. The presentation was attended by journalists, representatives of the private sector and ministry employees.

“Foreign trade is very important for the Brazilian economy. It is a great strength that we have and we increasingly need to monitor statistical data on exports and imports. We need to have the most modern tools and enable a more efficient and agile search for data on international negotiations,” highlighted the Secretary of International Agribusiness Relations, Tatiana Palermo.

According to the general coordinator of AgroStat, Gustavo Cupertino, Brazil is an exporting power and demand is greater in foreign sales: “The most sought after items are soybeans (grains, bran and oil), meat (beef, poultry and pork) and forestry products (cellulose, paper and wood). The main destination is China."

The system facilitates user research because it aggregates products into specific groupings. “We work with two types of grouping, one broader, which includes agricultural and some agro-industrial products, and the other, more summarized, only includes agricultural products,” highlighted Tatiana Palermo.

According to the general coordinator of AgroStat, the platform is self-explanatory. There are frequently asked questions and answers on the website.

“I believe that the user will have easier access to statistical information. He adds that the groupings are divided according to sectors. With one click, you access the breakdowns in smaller divisions until you reach the raw data, as presented in Alice (Foreign Trade Information Analysis System/MDIC)”, said Cupertino.

AgroStat brings together 436 products in the agribusiness group. The data is updated until the tenth day of each month. Queries can be made by value in dollars and volume with views by products or by origin/destination (geographical blocks and regions, countries, federation units and ports). The tool is aimed at society as a whole, public and private companies, journalists, students and citizens interested in international trade.
