The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), Carlos Fávaro, participated on Tuesday (14/03) in the panel “Climate commitment and Multilevel Governance”, organized by the Brazilian Association of State Environmental Entities (Abema). The objective of the event was to discuss strategies aimed at multilevel and multisectoral integration to advance climate policy in Brazil.
Fávaro highlighted the importance of public policies developed by Mapa that aim to advance the sustainable development of Brazilian agricultural production. For the minister, it is important to intensify production from the perspective of sustainability and respect for the environment.
“Rural producers who are already producing with sustainable awareness will have more incentives, cheaper interest rates. The ABC Plan will no longer be an appendix to the Safra Plan, it will be the master and transversal line that we are building, with the most diverse levels”, highlighted the minister, citing one of the national policies focused on stimulating sustainable agriculture.
The Brazilian Association of State Environmental Entities (Abema) works in favor of the agenda of state environmental bodies, present in 26 states and the Federal District, seeking to consolidate sustainable development that promotes the necessary and balanced use of natural resources.
“Brazil stands out for its relevance to the climate and biodiversity and positions itself as part of the solution to climate challenges and, in this aspect, it is important to highlight the strategic role of subnational governments. Their actions were necessary so that we can reverse this global warming scenario and for them to gain scale and reach”, said the president of Abema, Mauren Lazzaretti.
