In a videoconference with Minister Tereza Cristina (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) this Friday (24), 23 agricultural attachés who work in different countries presented the sector's scenarios at this time of the new Coronavirus pandemic and possible actions for the recovery of the economy post-Covid-19. The minister recalled the importance of reinforcing to other countries that Brazil is a reliable partner in food supply and is currently managing its internal supply.
“This look from you on a daily basis is important, because you are at the forefront. We read the newspapers, but you have the gut feeling. and can make this reading much more real. We need to have current information so that we can draw up scenarios about what’s coming in the future”, said Tereza Cristina.
The minister also recommended that attachés describe the quality standards of Brazilian agricultural products to the countries where they work. “This will be a major factor for the post-Coronavirus period. There is a general lack of knowledge about Brazilian agriculture, which ends up generating criticism from other countries”, said the minister, remembering that the health of Brazilian products can make a difference in the international market.
The minister highlighted that Brazilian exports are flowing well, despite the decrease for some countries, but overall, there is an increase. According to her, Asia as a whole currently imports more agricultural products from Brazil than the United States, Argentina and the European Union combined.
