Inmet's climate forecast shows what rainfall and temperatures will be like until April 2022
For agriculture, this forecast means a longer preparation period between planting crops, avoiding risks and increasing productivity.
The climate forecasts presented at the 7th Agrometereology Meeting in the State, held last September, have been confirmed, thus benefiting agricultural activities. Such conditions allowed rural producers to advance the sowing of the 2021/2022 grain harvest. The Agrometeorology Directorate of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture (SEAGRO) explains the importance of producers seeking agrometeorological information for production in the field.
According to the agronomist from Seagro's Agrometeorology department, Alexandre Barreto, with the favorable climatic conditions for most of the municipalities in Tocantins, as a result of La Niña, many producers have already completed the sowing of the first harvest, with soybeans as the flagship. “The expectation is for growth in sown area and production, even with occasional problems in the acquisition of agricultural inputs, machinery and equipment”, he highlighted.
Still, according to Alexandre, another relevant point for the Tocantins harvest is that with the conclusion of soybean sowing, which began in the first half of October, there is a greater expectation for high yields of corn 2nd harvest, if the rains remain stable in general. . “The expectation is that Tocantins will exceed 6 million tons of grains, as well as growth in the area sown for other crops, as occurred with cowpeas in the last harvest, expanding the list of consolidated crops”, he detailed.
It is a natural phenomenon whose main cause is the decrease in the surface temperature of the waters of the Tropical Pacific Ocean, causing changes in the volume of rain in various regions of the globe. In Brazil, among the consequences of the occurrence of this phenomenon, we highlight above-average rainfall in the north and northeast regions.
