The Young Researchers Program project entitled “Non-destructive image analysis methods for seed quality assessment” has a place for a master’s degree with a FAPESP scholarship at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (USP). The registration deadline ends on November 23, 2018.
The project aims to find patterns in optical images through advanced techniques that allow the characterization of changes in the quality standards of carrot, tomato, jatropha and peanut seeds. The group of researchers involved wants to strengthen and expand innovative approaches, with the inclusion of new lines of research in an interinstitutional proposal, with an international scope.
The scholarship holder will participate in the subproject “Chlorophyll fluorescence and multispectral image analysis to assess the quality of carrot and tomato seeds”.
Prerequisites for the position are: knowledge in seed image analysis, undergraduate research experience (scientific initiation) and strong interest in learning optical image patterns as a non-destructive method for evaluating seed quality.
Candidates must send their CV to the project coordinator's email address, Clíssia Barboza da Silva(clissia_usp@hotmail.com), with the title “Master’s Degree – Seeds – Candidate’s Name”.
