Massey Ferguson presents Momentum planter in the Seeds & Fertilizer version

A highlight at agricultural fairs and in fields throughout Brazil and Latin America, the newest edition of the Massey Ferguson Momentum folding planter now has the delivery of fertilizers to each planting line. With technology produced and manufactured in Brazil, the equipment can deposit seed and fertilizer at the same time, providing an opportunity for productivity gains for rural producers, which can exceed 15%.

“What differentiates the Massey Ferguson Momentum Seeds & Fertilizer version from those already on the market is its size and the ability to deposit both fertilizer and seeds in the soil with quality, providing perfect planting”, says Fabrício Müller, Product Manager and Strategic Marketing for Crop Care at AGCO América do Sul, owner of the brand. “This new version of the planter aims to combine high quality, versatility and agility for the farmer to make the most of their planting window, and plant with better quality and within the appropriate season, significantly increasing the opportunity to achieve higher productivity”, he states.

The new equipment hits the market in versions with 24 and 30 lines of 45 cm (10,8 meters and 13,5 meters working width, respectively). The equipment continues to maintain two boxes for storing seeds with a total capacity of 5.130 liters, with a third stainless steel box at the front, where fertilizer can be stored, with a capacity for 3.600 liters of fertilizer. Furthermore, with its double central wheels, in lateral tandem, and wheels on the side wings, it better distributes the machine's weight, reducing soil compaction.

The fertilization system with pneumatic distribution for each planting line provides uniform distribution line by line, regardless of the leveling of the machine and topography of the land, which compared to traditional systems – using dosing screws and gravity distribution – generates considerable distribution improvements . In addition to this, there is also the functionality of the Smart Frame chassis, which provides the best capacity for planting lines to copy different topography, ensuring that seeds are deposited at the same depth, at any level or type of soil, which allows uniform planting even when working on wide-based terraces. All this embedded technology can result in an opportunity for up to 15% more bags of soybeans at harvest, for example. 

With Precision Planting technology, Momentum allows better distribution of fertilizer and seeds, with singulation levels of up to 99,6% in corn. Its 20/20 Generation 3 monitor allows the producer to monitor data from the planter, monitoring information second by second for each of the lines, which allows better guidance of operational decisions in real time.

vSet2 is the component that guarantees the quality of uniform distribution of seeds and ensures the correct spacing between them. The vDrive controller is responsible for the exact quantity of seeds deposited, even when planting in curves (level), eliminating overlapping in planting due to cutting from line to line and variable rate per line, reducing seed loss and operating costs and potentially generating a profit opportunity of more than R$90 for rural producers who grow soybeans, followed by corn, on 600 hectares.

Even with another box attached, the fertilizer box, the width for transporting the planter did not change. Folded, it is 3,6 meters long, taking 1,5 minutes to close it and making it possible to easily pass through gates and bridges, being pulled by the tractor, and 3,2 meters closed for road transport.
