MAPFRE supports innovation in rural risk management with sponsorship of Agrohackaton 2022

MAPFRE, one of the largest service providers in the insurance and financial markets in the world, will sponsor Agrohackaton 2022, which aims to encourage innovation and the development of technologies aimed at managing rural risks in Brazil. The marathon takes place in Paraná starting this Tuesday (29th), lasting until April 10th in different stages and is aimed at university students.

For Vanderlei Scarpanti, MAPFRE Territorial Director in the state of Paraná, encouraging risk management tools represents an important instrument to reduce business losses and provide greater income stability to rural producers. "As we are absolute leaders in insurance for Agribusiness in the country and, mainly, in the state of Paraná, with extensive operations and market knowledge, we know that rural production is a fundamental activity, but one with high uncertainty due to market fluctuations, bad weather climate and health impacts. We believe it is essential to encourage the development of new instruments for mitigating rural risks”, he affirms

The steps

The Agrohackaton training phase will take place online on March 29th and 31st, with presentations given by technicians from Embrapa and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), in addition to lectures by representatives of specialized companies in the insurance sector . Catia Rucco Rivelles, Agribusiness Superintendent at MAPFRE, will be one of the main guests to present at the event.

From April 8th to 10th, face-to-face technological stages take place in rural areas of Lapa and Assis Chateaubriand, with students focusing on a real problem. The intention is for students from different areas to share knowledge, proposing practical and innovative actions that can resolve the issues presented.
