The debate on the revision of the official classification standard for Brazilian soybeans was the main topic of the Seminar ‘Challenges of Brazilian Leadership in the World Soy Market’, held this November 9th, at Embrapa Soja, in Londrina (PR). During the Seminar, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) presented a classification proposal to reconcile the expectations of producers, buyers, processors and exporters of soybeans, regarding Ordinance 532, since the proposal presented by Mapa in a seminar held in September, in Brasília (DF) was not agreed.

At the Seminar, held in Londrina, Mapa received different conciliatory positions regarding the proposal presented, however, others remained pending. “As we need more evaluations, we will gather all the information we received during the event and decide whether we will promote another conciliatory proposal or whether we will establish an action plan to resolve the issues of the conciliatory positions. In two weeks we will have an answer about the completion of this process”, explains Glauco Bertoldo, director of the Plant Inspection Department (Dipov), at Mapa.

The Seminar 'Challenges of Brazilian Leadership in the World Soy Market' is a promotion by Embrapa Soja, in partnership with ABIOVE (Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries, ACEBRA (Association of Cereal Companies of Brazil), ANEC (National Association of Exporters of Cereals), ASCB (Association of Supervisors and Controllers of Brazil), OCB (Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives) and Sindirações (National Union of the Animal Feed Industry).
