Russian wheat with competitive price puts pressure on the market
Wheat prices fall in PR and RS as supply exceeds demand
The Ministry of Agriculture today published ordinances (256 to 272) with the agricultural climate risk zoning (Zarc) for the cultivation of herbaceous cotton. The ordinance is valid for the 23/24 crop year and comes into force on July 3rd.
Zarc will be valid for culture in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí, Acre, Rondônia, Tocantins, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina and the Federal District.
The objective of agricultural zoning is to identify suitable municipalities and sowing periods with lower climate risk, at three risk levels: 20%, 30% and 40%, for the cultivation of herbaceous cotton in the states.
cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) needs adequate conditions of temperature, soil humidity and light for its growth, development and good productivity.
Depending on the climate and the duration of the cycle, the cotton plant needs between 700 mm and 1300 mm of precipitation for its good development, with 50% to 60% of its water needs occurring during the flowering and boll formation period.
Water deficit and excess humidity in the period between 60 and 100 days after emergence can induce the fall of fruit structures and compromise production, as approximately 80% of the structures responsible for cotton production are emitted during this period.
