Mapa publishes family farming products with discounts in November

The list of products from the Price Guarantee Program for Family Farming (PGPAF) entitled to a discount in October in credit operations with financial institutions was published this Friday (8) in the Official Gazette.

The discount is applied by the bank that operated the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) on the payment amount for the products on the list, so that farmers are assured, at least, the production cost to guarantee payment.

The products and states covered are valid for the period from November 10th to December 9th of this year, according to the 5.253 Ordinance, from the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.

Products that have had a drop in market price will have discounts when the credit is repaid or paid off. The discount granted corresponds to the difference between the market price and the guarantee price.

The products with bonuses are: açaí, babaçu (almond), banana, cashew nuts, cowpea, orange, castor beans, mango, passion fruit, honey, cassava root, tomato and wheat.

For farmers who have investment operations without a main product, there is the product basket bonus. In these cases, discounts are calculated through a composition of the bonuses of beans, milk, cassava and corn.

The states on this month's list are: Acre, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Piauí, Paraná, Espírito Santo, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Sergipe, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins.

Some of the crops will have a bonus above 51%, as is the case with babaçu (almond) for farmers in Maranhão. The product, which has a guaranteed price of R$3,04/kg, had a market price of R$1,48/kg last month, which represents a drop of 51,32%.

Discounts for all crops are calculated monthly by the National Supply Company (Conab) and published by the Mapa Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives.
