Research suggests that fungi can form sentences
This is a much more complex system than previously assumed, and can reach - in some species - a total of 50 different "words"
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) made studies and research on Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning (Zarc) available on the portal. The objective is to facilitate access for researchers and students to bibliographies and encourage new studies in agro-climatic risk management.
Zarc is a technical-scientific study developed by Embrapa and partners. The indicators guide the contracting of public policies such as rural insurance and the granting of official funding credit. Zoning indicates the least risky planting periods and lists the cultivars most adapted to each region.
Farmers who follow Zarc's recommendations are less subject to climate risks and may benefit from the Agricultural Activity Guarantee Program (Proagro) and the Rural Insurance Premium Subsidy Program (PSR). Many financial agents only allow access to rural credit for crops in zoned areas and for planting cultivars indicated in zoning ordinances.
Used as a risk management tool, Zarc has been addressed more frequently within universities, teaching and agricultural research centers. “The Zarc Academic Observatory is compiled to encourage students and researchers to easily access bibliographies on zoning, which to date has 72 publications. New studies can be included and we hope that academia will further promote this topic”, explains the director of Mapa’s Risk Management Department, Pedro Loyola.
Researchers interested in publishing content in this observatory should send an email to zonamento@agro.gov.br with the subject “ZARC OBSERVATORY”. In addition, you must attach the studies in PDF format (named with “year – main author – study title”) and request the study to be made available on the Mapa portal, stating where the article or study was published.
The contents will be analyzed by the Mapa team and, if they are in accordance with the observatory's proposal, they will be made available to the public on the website.
In addition, the Risk Management Department of the Mapa Agricultural Policy Secretariat provides access to the Zarc entrances, where the public can consult the indicated cultivars and the sowing/planting dates for each crop.
