Secretariat of Agriculture releases monitoring report on locust outbreak in RS
Surveys were carried out on site in the Northwest region in accordance with notification of the occurrence of locust outbreaks
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) promotes on December 14th, from 15pm to 17:30pm, a virtual training course on the agroclimatic platforms and applications of the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The event is aimed at serving agricultural technicians, rural producers, professionals in the rural insurance market and financial institutions, as well as government managers who implement public policies aimed at the agricultural sector.
In the year in which it turned 111 years old, Inmet launched several new features in the provision of climate and weather forecasting services. A new portal was created and two new applications are facilitating society's access to agroclimatic information.
The general coordinator of Applied Meteorology, Development and Research at Inmet, Márcia Seabra, explains that the course will present meteorological tools and products that can help Brazilian agribusiness. “Among the tools, the Agricultural Decision Support System (Sisdagro) and Inmet Weather Forecast applications stand out, in addition to the climate forecast for rain and temperature for the first quarter of 2021”, she concludes.
"The agroclimatic services provided by Inmet are important in agribusiness risk management and fundamental to supporting the agricultural sector in its agricultural planning and management decisions", says the director of Mapa's Risk Management Department, Pedro Loyola.
To participate in the event, simply access the following Teams platform on the scheduled day and time: tinyurl.com/capacitacaoinmet
Interested parties do not need to register, but it is recommended that they download the applications and read the bulletins and newsletters on the Inmet portal.
The INMET weather forecast application is available in versions for Android e IOS
The SISDAGRO application is available, for now, only in the version for Android.

The monthly agroclimatic bulletins can be accessed around the 10th of each month at https://portal.inmet.gov.br/boletinsagro
The weekly weather reports are accessed at https://portal.inmet.gov.br/informativos
Inmet provides a Weather Forecast application with various features and meteorological information. In addition to the weather forecast for all of Brazil, the application offers real-time information from all of the institute's weather stations, satellite images, numerical weather forecast maps and weather radar images.
The app's biggest difference is the weather warnings. Whenever a weather warning is issued for the user's region, a notification will be sent directly to the cell phone with information on the type of warning, severity and duration.
Sisdagro was developed with the aim of supporting users in the agricultural sector in their planning, monitoring and decision-making decisions. Its target audience is made up of rural producers and extensionists, agricultural technicians and agronomists, researchers and government managers who implement public policies aimed at the agricultural sector.
The system offers tools for monitoring the agrometeorological conditions in force up to the date of consulting the system, as well as forecast conditions for the next five days. These tools generally make use of meteorological information recorded in a network of Inmet stations, as well as data obtained by the numerical weather forecast model, referring to the variables: air temperature, precipitation, relative air humidity, speed and wind direction and solar radiation.
Since 1909, the Institute has been responsible for monitoring and generating meteorological information; prepare and disseminate weather forecasts at national level; promote the execution of climatological studies and surveys applied to the agricultural sector; monitor the evolution of El Niño and La Niña climate phenomena; coordinate, develop and execute agrometeorological research programs and projects; coordinate and operate meteorological observation and data transmission networks; among other functions.
Furthermore, Inmet represents Brazil at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and, by delegation from the entity, is responsible for the traffic of messages collected by the meteorological observation network in South America and the other centers that make up the World Meteorological Surveillance System. .
