Mapa participates in the 18th National Science and Technology Week

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) is one of the participants in the 18th National Food Week Science and Technology (SNCT), which runs until December 10th, at Exhibition Pavilion at Parque da Cidade, in Brasília.

Promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the week has the theme “The transversality of science, technology and innovations for the planet”. The idea is to show how the science and technology are increasingly present in our routine, mainly for young people and children.  

At the Mapa stand, visitors can learn about various technologies used in plantations and animal husbandry animals. The Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives, for example, shows visitors the importance of the National Seal of Family Farming, which identifies the origin and characteristics of products originating from family agriculture in Brazil and are purpose of promoting the strengthening of the segment's social identity to consumers and the population. The Seal can be accessed by a QR Code, which informs who produced it, the nutritional characteristics and commercial information on family farming enterprises. Per through the Family Farming Showcase System, the consumer can get to know the products with identificationo.

The Market Access Coordinator Privados do Mapa, Mônica Batista, explains how the seal is a guarantee of quality of the product offered to the population. "The tool is available free of charge to all family farmers and forms of organization. The general public can access and learn about the products. It also has a traceability and identification service for products with QR Code innovation”.

Embrapa, a research company agriculture, is also present during the week and presents methods of how the production of grains, such as soybeans, corn and wheat, can be sustainable, in addition to information about how the food that arrives at the table of Brazilians.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) shows videos on how weather forecasts are made in the country and How can farmers know whether it will rain or shine with seven days in advance via an app, which helps identify the best time to plant and harvest the crop.

The stands are open from 8:30 am until 19 pm. Entry is free.
