The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Finance met with representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA), the National Treasury Secretariat (STN) and financial institutions that operate rural credit to treat the evolution of its financing for the agricultural sector in the current harvest and the credit support policy with subsidized resources.

Despite the climatic adversities that occurred in the first quarter of this harvest, from July to September, in important agricultural production regions, the aggregate value of rural credit in this period, and in different lines of financing, was 11% higher than that observed in 2022, highlighting the good performance of financial institutions in relation to what was committed in their quarterly schedule for the harvest.

Credit support measures with subsidized resources, whose allocation to financial institutions, based on improved competitiveness criteria, was recognized as an important advance in terms of transparency and effectiveness in the use of public resources, highlighted the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Agricultural Policy do Mapa, Wilson Vaz de Araújo.

In relation to the next harvest plan, Mapa and the Ministry of Finance anticipated some ideas to be constructed, in consultation with financial institutions, covering the review of the allocation criteria for equalizable resources for these institutions, with the aim of ensuring that credit resources rural areas are made available according to producer demand throughout the harvest in different regions of the country.
