BNDES launches more competitive rural credit in dollars for Brazil's agro-export sector
Credit potential is expected to exceed R$2 billion per year; From May onwards, rural producers will have another alternative at BNDES for financing
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) published, this Tuesday (18/04), the Ordinance No. 784, which brings three new reference specifications (ER 54, 55 and 56) for the registration of phytosanitary products with approved use for organic agriculture, in addition to a republication of ER 10.
The active ingredients of the new RE are widely accessible, making it possible for any interested company to request the registration of low-impact products for use in organic and conventional production systems.
In ER 54, Doryctobracon areolatus - a native parasitoid - may be used in commercial products to control fruit flies Ceratitis capitata and species of Anastrepha that occur in Brazil. Created based on the work of researcher Dori Edson Nava, from Embrapa Clima Temperado, ER54 has the potential to inaugurate the registration of products with biological agents for the control of fruit flies in the country.
The predatory mite Amblydromalus limonicus, which appears as an active ingredient in ER 55, reinforces the options for controlling Bemisia tabaci (whitefly), a pest that attacks a large number of crops, from grains to ornamentals, including vegetables and fruit. Currently, there is only one registered mite-based product for the biological control of whiteflies on Brazilian crops.
The big news, however, is the parasitoid wasp Anisopteromalus calandrae, from ER 56, which is capable of reducing the population of a significant number of weevils or weevils in stored products: Sitophilus oryzae, Sitophilus zeamais, Rhyzoperta dominica, Acanthoscelides obtectus, Callosobruchus maculatus and Lasioderma serricorne. The inclusion of the six biological targets - including the last two, which are new in ER - was possible thanks to the collaboration of Professor Simone Mundstock Jahnke, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
“In Brazil, there is still no registered product with biological agents for the control of storage pests that were covered in ER 56. Our expectation is that this publication will arouse the interest of companies and this will result in new options for rural producers”, highlights, Tereza Cristina Saminêz, from the Reference Specifications Service.
The republication of ER 10, of the microbiological agent Beauveria bassiana (isolate IBCB 66), aimed to include the target Hypothenmus hampei (coffee borer) and had the contribution of José Eduardo Marcondes de Almeida, researcher at the Instituto Biológico de São Paulo and curator of the collection where the microbial isolate is deposited. From now on, companies with products registered under ER 10 will have 180 days to make changes to the label and leaflet, as established by CGAA Act No. 88/2019.
“We already have 60 products with different trademarks registered based on ER 10. As the inclusion of the new target in the indication for use is compulsory, the coffee grower will, in less than six months, have all these products to manage the borer. in farming”, celebrates Tereza Cristina.
Prepared jointly by Mapa, Anvisa and Ibama, the 53 RE previously published enabled the registration of almost 300 phytosanitary products with approved use for organic agriculture, contributing to the records achieved in the registration of low-impact inputs, including in 2022.
“The release of low-impact products is another Mapa initiative committed to ensuring the sustainability of agriculture”, highlights the general coordinator of Pesticides and Related Products, Victor Torres.
