Corn harvest reached 57% in Rio Grande do Sul
Maturing crops represent 18%, 10% are in grain filling, 8% in flowering and 7% in germination and vegetative development
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) authorized, in the first two months of 2023 alone, another 90 companies to export corn to China. Now the list to export the product to the Asian country now includes 446 Brazilian companies.
“The outlook for this year is a record high in Brazilian corn exports with the possibility of Brazil surpassing corn exports from the United States”, highlights the Secretary of Agricultural Defense, Carlos Goulart.
Brazil's corn exports continue to rise in 2023 and gain great momentum with sales of the cereal to China. According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), in January this year, Brazilian corn exports rose 167% compared to the same month last year, with the Asian country absorbing 15% of Brazilian supply. Until last year, the biggest buyers of corn from Brazil were Iran, Japan, Spain and Egypt.
According to an agreement signed in 2022, Mapa is the one who registers Brazilian companies that meet the requirements determined by China for the export of corn. After registration in Brazil, the Ministry sends the list of qualified companies to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) and following confirmation by the Chinese side, the companies can ship the grain to that country.
