Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply defined on October 14th, in an extraordinary meeting of the Coffee Policy Deliberative Council, the conditions for the release of R$ 1.318.582.400 from Funcafé to finance producers who suffered losses due to the frost that hit coffee producing regions. For this line of credit, the interest rate is maintained at 7% per year.
A vote will be submitted to the National Monetary Council, to then make this line of credit available to the 34 Financial Agents that operate with Funcafé, so that at the beginning of November the resource will be available to coffee growers.
With these decisions, Minister Tereza Cristina fulfills the commitment made during her trip to Minas Gerais to guarantee coffee growers a measure of support in this time of crisis, due to the drought and frost that hit coffee crops.
For the recovery and replanting of affected areas, the budget must be accompanied by a technical report issued by an Agricultural Engineer accredited by the financial agent or by the State Technical Assistance Company.
To finance replanting, it will be necessary to comply with climate risk zoning in areas that are suitable for coffee growing activities.
Credit limits vary according to the management to be applied to the crop. Cutting, skeletonizing, harvesting and plucking are cultural practices applied to coffee when an injury occurs to the plant (climate, pest attack, plant aging, etc.).
