The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) published this Friday (12) Ordinance No. 110, which submits to public consultation, for a period of 45 days, the proposal for a Normative Instruction (IN) that deals with production activity of phytosanitary products with approved use for organic agriculture. The IN establishes minimum requirements for the production and increased safety of this type of input within agricultural properties.
Among the innovations that the standard proposes is the risk classification of production activities of phytosanitary products with authorized use for organic agriculture for personal use. It is also planned to provide mandatory technical assistance or training for rural producers for their own production, and the requirement of mandatory traceability items for production systems for their own use.
The production of biological and microbiological agents can partially or completely replace the use of chemical pesticides. A common practice of organic agriculture, it has been seen that many conventional producers, of all sizes, have been adopting this practice to control pests in their crops. “As these are very low impact products, this practice contributes to reducing costs in agricultural production, in addition to being extremely beneficial for the environment and human health”, highlights the general coordinator of Agrochemicals and Related Products, Bruno Breitenbach .
According to the coordinator, although Mapa encourages the adoption of this production technology on rural properties in Brazil, the lack of clearer rules and established requirements for production is generating doubts among rural producers in the decision to adopt and use these organic products. on their rural properties, as well as producing these inputs safely.
The standard also provides for the publication of Good Manufacturing Practice Manuals, which will be prepared by Embrapa, for each type of microbiological agent.
