Brazilian Plant Health Congress - VI Conbraf takes place from September 21st to 23rd, Goiânia/GO - Brazil
During the months of July and August, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), in partnership with other institutions, will promote four face-to-face workshops in municipalities in the Northeast Region to boost the agricultural innovation ecosystem.
The objective of the events is to present ongoing actions aligned with the Agronordeste Digital program, collect insights, subsidies and identify the main bottlenecks for the purpose of preparing action plans and raising funds to implement strategic actions aimed at consolidating the region's Agro ecosystems. .
The Ministry of Agriculture has already been carrying out actions to promote technological entrepreneurship focused on agricultural innovation and supporting the creation and consolidation of agricultural innovation ecosystems and environments in the country. According to a survey by Mapa and Embrapa, today Brazil has more than 1.500 startups linked to agricultural activities, bringing solutions to producers. There are also more than 50 Agro innovation environments in the country.
According to Mapa's General Coordination of Innovation, almost 90% of these projects are in the South and Southeast regions of the country. Therefore, to support and encourage the process in the Northeast region, Mapa created the Agronordeste Digital program, which aims to promote technology-based entrepreneurship focused on agricultural activities.
The program is structured around the following strategic actions: creation and strengthening of the regional innovation ecosystem; promoting technological entrepreneurship; learning and experience exchange network; and Rural connectivity.
The workshops will take place in municipalities that have an already established process and can be accelerated with the coordination of efforts between regional, municipal, state and federal institutions, as well as the involvement of the productive sector and teaching and research institutions.
July 26th: West Bahia – Barreiras/BA
August 03th: São Francisco Valley – Petrolina/PE
August 09th: Vale do Açú – Municipality of Açú/RN
August 10th: Jaguaribe Valley – Russas/CE
The workshops will be promoted by Mapa with support from the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and other partner institutions such as Sebrae, Sudene, Embrapa, universities and companies involved in regional ecosystems. Still in 2022, according to the Secretariat of Innovation, Sustainable Development and Irrigation (SDI), a call should be made for startups in the regions to develop new businesses and new technologies for the agricultural sector in the Northeast region of the country.
