New feature brings more precision to crop monitoring through the new “Biomass Comparison” function
The Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a leader in the marketing and processing of agricultural products, makes new investments in the Confresa unit, located in Vale do Araguaia, one of the great agribusiness powers in the State of Mato Grosso. One of the highlights of the project is the installation of another dryer in the origination warehouse, increasing the receiving capacity for producers in the region.
The new equipment, which began operating in March, brings operational and productivity gains, as it doubles the drying capacity from 200 to 400 nominal tons/h, making the unit even more efficient by optimizing the operation. ‘’This investment benefits producers and drivers, as it reduces waiting times for trucks. With faster drying, there is a greater speed of receiving grains during the harvest, helping producers to flow”, explains Alessandro Fonseca, Origination and Inputs manager at the unit.
The warehouse is one of the first in Confresa to have a dust removal system, which brings environmental benefits by capturing and treating waste that could be released into the atmosphere.
“The municipality is responsible for the production of approximately 150 thousand tons of soybeans per year, while the state of Mato Grosso is the largest soybean producer in the country. Investing in local operations aiming at the well-being of the surrounding community and the preservation of the environment is a fundamental part of LDC's commitment to this important region since 2004 and to Brazil, where we have operated for 80 years, in addition to reinforce our strength in grain supply and our ability to meet the growing global demand for Brazilian products, reinforces Jimmy Oliveira, manager of Grains & Oilseeds Warehouses for the North Latam Region at LDC.
Improvements at the plant also include safety sensors in the dryers, which reduce the risk of accidents due to grain overheating. “We are proud of this integrated project that reaffirms our everyday mission: taking the right product to the right place, at the right time – in a safe, reliable and responsible way”, concludes Fonseca.
