First crop bean harvest is coming to an end in RS
In the producing regions of RS, beans are nearing the end of their harvest, with around 74% of the area already harvested
This year's theme for the 29th Official Opening of the Rice Harvest is Productive matrix: Diversified activity and increased income, and to discuss this subject the Embrapa research unit, Embrapa Clima Temperado (Pelotas, RS), prepared together with the Federation of Rice Growers Associations of RS (Federarroz), an intense program of lectures with the aim of promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge during the days of the event, which takes place this week between February 20th and 22nd, at the Terras Baixas Experimental Station (ETB), Embrapa's physical base, located in Capão do Leão/RS.
The chosen themes aim to present to the public an overview of irrigated rice cultivation in Rio Grande do Sul, show the latest developments in the use of geotechnology in soil management and the possibilities for diversification in crop-livestock integration. To this end, during these three days of the event, Embrapa Clima Temperado will have an institutional stand. In this space, the program will consist of several activities, including a technical meeting with producers participating in the soybean pest alert system. Lectures will also be held on site with the themes: Use of geotechnologies in water and soil management in lowlands and FBN (Biological Nitrogen Fixation) in irrigated rice and lowland soybeans.
In addition to the institutional stand, the Research Unit will also be part of the technical forum that will be held in the main auditorium. At this forum, Embrapa will be responsible for the lectures Priorities to achieve soybean production stability in the Lowlands, given by researcher Giovani Theisen included in the Panel: Irrigated rice in the Southern Half of RS and the need to diversify; and the lecture on Crop-livestock integration given by researcher Jamir Silva within the Diversification with livestock panel.
