The solar energy market in Brazil is going through a period of strong growth. At the beginning of this year, the legal framework for micro and mini energy generators (Law 14.300/2022) was sanctioned. The publication of the Law directly impacts agribusiness consumer units. Updated on the agenda, Valley promotes informative actions aimed at rural producers.

Valley has already promoted a webinar on the subject, aimed at the company's internal audience, presenting the commercial advantages of the milestone and providing support for employees and partners to be aware of the subject.

On March 15th, a live broadcast will be held aimed at Brazilian producers, where they will be able to learn more about the changes generated by the legal framework and the feasibility of installing the solar project at this time.

Currently, Valley offers the design and installation of solar plants, in partnership with Canadian Solar, a company responsible for manufacturing solar photovoltaic modules. Multinationals join forces to offer not only product and service guarantees, but also consultancy, bureaucratic support and skillful planning, depending on the transition period.

Impacts of the legal framework

According to Agência Senado, Law 14.300/2022 allows existing consumer units — and those that file a request for access with the distributor in 2022 — to continue, for another 25 years, the benefits currently granted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) through the Electricity Compensation System (SCEE). This law also defines the rules that will prevail after 2045 and which standards will be applicable during the transition period.

For rural producers, this period represents a great time to invest in clean energy. Anyone who files the “Access Opinion” request with the concessionaire by January 6, 2023 will be subject to the current energy compensation rule, that is, all energy consumed will be compensated by the energy generated.

CALA Ag Solar President Director, Fábio Yanagui, explains that rural producers who install solar plants in the coming months will have all the necessary support. “We are preparing in every aspect and sense: technical; structural and financial. In other words, we are providing our technical staff with projects for approval by the distributor and working to increase our service capacity,” he explains.

With 100 service points in Brazil, the company provides advice and has know-how for on-grid, off-grid and hybrid plants. Currently, there are more than 650 AgSolar by Valley plants installed in Brazil, which represents a territorial coverage in the country of approximately 90%.

Golden Partnership

Among the main strengths of the partnership between Canadian and Valley, Canadian's LatAm Commercial Director, Cristiano Piroli, highlights the capillarity that Valley has in Brazil to support the demands of the Agro market linked to the scale of Canadian Brasil, which has a local structure with more than 80 people, to support the demand for products that is already present.

"We are talking about an investment that has a performance guarantee of 25-30 years. The two companies are traditional in the Brazilian and world markets, leaders recognized for their excellence in the products they sell and bring the certainty to the end customer that they are contracting what exists best in design, equipment and installation", highlighted Cristiano.

In Brazil and worldwide

The Global Solar vice president of the Ag Solar division at Valmont, João Rebequi, explains that the expansion of the use of solar energy is promising worldwide and that Valmont works to be the main partner for rural producers when it comes to clean energy. “That is our main mission. Today, we have 70 MWp installed worldwide. Therefore, we have the largest footprint in the agricultural sector”, he reveals.

“In the Brazilian market our situation is even more comfortable, according to the good results in the market. With this change to Law 14.300, we will go through a very impressive moment in the solar energy market in the country. Valmont is now ready to serve Brazilian producers and we have the capacity to do this immediately”, he celebrates.
