Brazil exports 39,6 million bags in the 2021/22 harvest and obtains record revenue of US$8,1 billion
The result represents a 13,3% drop in volume, but a 38,7% increase in value compared to the 2020/21 cycle
President Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned the Law 14.406 / 22, which allows the use of agricultural aviation to combat forest fires. The standard amends the Forest Code and Decree-Law 917/69, which deals with the use of agricultural aviation in the country.
The law comes from a project (PL 4629/20) by senator Carlos Fávaro (PSD-MT), approved in the Chamber of Deputies last month.
Fávaro explained that the drought and fire season coincides with the agricultural off-season in most of the Brazilian territory, a period in which the national aero-agricultural fleet is usually idle. The estimate is that Brazil's fleet is the second largest on the planet, with around 2,4 aircraft (2021 data).
According to the law, contingency plans for fighting forest fires, drawn up by environmental agencies, must have guidelines for the use of the aero-agricultural fleet. To be used in these operations, aircraft must meet the technical standards defined by the public authorities and be piloted by qualified professionals.
The activity may be encouraged by the government and will consist of government policies, programs and plans to prevent and combat forest fires, including the training and training of pilots.
