Jundiaí will pay subsidies to 60 grape producers

Support for grape producers in the first harvest after obtaining the Geographical Indication of the Niagara Rosada de Jundiahy Grape. This is what the Jundiaí Municipal Agribusiness Support Program (Proaj) contemplates, which will be paid to grape producers registered for the subsidy. A total of R$409.917,58 will be distributed to 60 farmers.

“Grapes are the main crop in our city, which is why it is so important to strengthen producers. And this is yet another public development policy that shows how committed we are to increasingly increasing financial resources in agribusiness. In the last six years, investment in the sector has grown by almost 500%”, said the Government and Finance manager, José Antônio Parimoschi, who represented Mayor Luiz Fernando Machado in the signing of the term of commitment for payment of the subsidy.

Proaj was established through law No. 9.963, of June 14, 2023, and aims to encourage grape producers in the municipality of Jundiaí, registered and qualified, through an economic subsidy, to settle in the countryside.

In the last six years, between 2017 and 2023, the City Hall increased investments in the sector by 474%, through programs of the Agribusiness, Supply and Tourism Management Unit (Ugaat). “Proaj is yet another public policy aimed at protecting rural producers, especially grape producers, in Jundiaí. Both for the protection of water sources and rural producers, and for the supply of quality food, through the promotion of agribusiness”, said the manager of the Agribusiness, Supply and Tourism Unit (Ugaat), Eduardo Alvarez.

Another program strengthened in 2023 was Protected Cultivation, which encourages the use of technologies such as protection and prevention of climate extremes (use of anti-bird, anti-hail screens and agricultural film). This year, the city hall doubled the value per property, which rose from R$3 to R$6.

“In addition to Protected Cultivation, other farmer promotion and protection programs were also strengthened. The PSA, Municipal Payment Program for Environmental Services, saw a 41% increase in the amount paid to producers. There are several growing investments that we have made”, reinforced the Director of Agribusiness, Isabel Harder. Agricultural Patrol, a City Hall service in which producers can hire large machinery at prices well below market prices, grew 234% in 2023.
