John Deere brings solutions for the Opening of the Rice Harvest

In addition to being one of the main foods consumed in Brazil, rice is a significant crop for the country's agribusiness. According to the latest harvest estimate released by Conab (National Supply Company), grain production should reach 11.207 million tons this harvest, with more than 80% coming from southern Brazil.

To begin the grain harvest in the region, the 20th Rice Harvest Opening will be held from February 22th to 29nd, in Capão Leão (RS). A supporter of the event since its first year, John Deere will also be present in this edition with technology and machinery solutions. "This is a traditional event in the agricultural calendar and an excellent opportunity to present to rice growers, customers who are always looking for high technology and performance to improve crop handling, the latest developments in the sector", says Eduardo Martini, Sales Manager at John Deere Brazil.

In addition to land and climate, the technical capacity of farmers and the high mechanization of crops are fundamental factors for achieving high productivity and good harvests. Therefore, the company will present its most modern solutions for field operations at the occasion. "John Deere has a long and strong relationship with the sector, with products that make everyday life easier and help farmers overcome challenges inherent to the crop, such as grain cleanliness and quality", highlights Martini.

Technology and planning help increase productivity

For a good rice harvest, the soil preparation phase is decisive, as errors at this time mean increased costs and losses in production. To assist farmers at this time, John Deere has Surface Water Pro, a tool capable of collecting elevation data for planning soil preparation in rice cultivation or drainage for soybean rotation. The solution ensures that the irrigation operation is faster and plans the creation of contour lines, also acting in adverse situations such as dust and wind.

Part of this system, the AgroCad software manipulates all the data that is captured, compares the planned route with the one carried out and, thus, allows the farmer to carry out prior planning of his actions, which guarantees more savings and greater productivity. Compared to the conventional method, the producer can carry out the operation in half the time.

Another example of the company's innovation is the S550 harvester, with a Drapper platform, rotor technology that helps reduce the loss rate, improves cleaning and grain quality. The Drapper platform provides more uniform flow in cutting and feeding, improving harvest capacity and grain quality. In addition, these harvesters have automatic pilot and productivity map as a factory option, technology that provides more detailed productivity management and greater harvest performance.
