Investment visibility, negotiation in the producer's currency and differentiated payment terms. These are the benefits of the Barter operation – from the English exchange – a different modality for acquiring agricultural machinery and equipment and another credit option for the producer.

Through the operation, Jacto delivered on May 19th a coffee harvester, model KTR 3500, to coffee producers José César Jorge and Maria das Graças Peixoto, from Ibiraci-MG.

The Barter modality, which is already known in the market and which was adopted by Jacto in 2016, consists of allowing payment in product, in this case bags of coffee, as an alternative when purchasing the company's harvester models.

“The intention is exactly to open up another possibility for the acquisition of machinery and equipment and offer payment conditions so that producers can have more options to access technologies that allow them greater productivity, safety and quality, which are characteristics of our products. Through this operation, the producer will be able to pay in up to 3 harvests”, explains Armando Carlos Maran, harvester sales manager at Jacto.

To structure the operation, Jacto relies on the assistance of Unibarter, a reference company in the matter and which conducted the operation with the Louis Dreyfus Company, a leader in the marketing and processing of agricultural products and one of the key partners of this program in Brazil.

Filipe Paiva, consultant at UniBarter, explains that the entire operation is carried out to facilitate acquisition, making it simple and agile.

“Consultancy support seeks to act as a facilitator of the process, which allows for simple negotiation, focused on formalizing the operation. In addition to agility, Barter brings a lot of security to the producer, since he knows exactly what his investment is and can focus on the productivity and quality of his product”, he assesses.

The negotiation was conducted by the reseller Sami Máquinas, located in Franca-SP, which served the producers and presented the equipment's differences and also the purchase options.

“We always work to indicate the equipment appropriate to the customer’s needs, considering technologies, cost-benefit and also the best payment methods. We are happy to be able to collaborate and know that the customer was properly assisted in what they were looking for”, says Sami El Jurdi, Commercial Director of the reseller.

The producers explain that they chose Barter when purchasing the harvester and also a tractor as they already knew the procedure and use it to purchase inputs, such as pesticides and fertilizers.

“I think this option makes planning easier, as we work in our currency and know exactly what we are going to deliver. It's a big investment and that's why we have to do the right thing. That's why the option to exchange weighed heavily on the choice”, explains producer José Cesar Jorge, who reinforces that he always counts on his wife in decisions.

“We work together, she is involved in the entire process and the decision, always. It really is a partnership', adds Jorge.

The harvester in question was the first to be purchased by the couple. Previously, to harvest, it was necessary to rent the equipment.

“The acquisition will facilitate the harvesting process on the farm, as we will be able to program the activities in the field, if necessary using the machine twice and at the appropriate time, without delays or unforeseen events', he concludes.
