Seeking to generate value for its members by presenting solutions for plant health and productive and profitable harvests, the Integrated Cooperativa Agroindustrial will be developing an intensive campaign to combat greening in the countryside and in the city. The disease has been a major challenge for producers and the objective of the campaign is to disseminate information so that members can learn more about greening and ways to combat it.

“It is possible to control the disease. It is necessary to persist and have resilience”, says agronomist Flávia Domingos, from the Uraí region. The “Combat Greening: The Time is Now” campaign aims to raise awareness among cooperative members and residents in the area where Integrada operates, with actions in the community and schools, external management of properties and informative lectures.

Printed and digital materials will be published on social media, on our blog, in Integrada em Revista and also in media outlets in our region “it is important that our members know their responsibilities in combating the psyllid and the impact that incorrect management could cause on properties. We have carried out joint actions with city halls, IDR - Institute of Rural Development of Paraná, Adapar to contain this disease that afflicts citrus growers in various parts of the world”, declared Wellington Furlaneti, technical manager at Integrada.

The actions will be developed in locations that produce citrus, such as Uraí, Assaí, Cornélio Procópio, Mauá da Serra and Londrina, with the support of each agronomist responsible for their region.

Greening, called hunglonbing (HBL) is considered the most important citrus disease in the world, due to the difficulty of control, rapid dissemination and being highly destructive.

In Partnership with

Through a partnership between Integrada and IDR, members receive tamarixia, which can be released in home orchards, within cities and in areas of native forests, close to orange plantations “tamarixia radiata is the natural enemy of the psyllid . She lays her eggs under psyllid nymphs, eliminating them, reducing the presence of the HBL bacteria vector in orchards. The release of these insects is a strategy used in greening management because it prevents the insect from becoming adults and damaging crops”, explains Humberto Godoy Androcioli, researcher at IDR.

All citrus producers, members of Integrada, can request tamarixias from the IDR laboratory from their agronomists. In the month of September alone, more than 50 thousand wasps were distributed among the cooperative's members.

new app

An experimental IDR project will guide producers when releasing the wasp: a new application that demonstrates the locations that have previously received the insect, avoiding unnecessary release in the same area.

It also alerts producers about the deadline for insects to be released and provides information about the benefits that correct management provides for crops.
