Bayer announces that on January 22, 2021, the European Union Commission granted a safety certificate for the import of soy seeds with Intacta 2 Xtend technology for use and processing in food/feed. The decision was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, following a scientific review by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in relation to biotechnology, concluded on September 25, 2019.

The technology went through a long review and approval process and, with the authorization of the European Union Commission, completed the last stage of the process before the commercial launch of the Intacta 2 Xtend Platform, in the 2021/2022 harvest. Through this last stage of approval, Bayer reinforces its commitment to continue investing to bring new technologies that make it possible to increase the competitiveness of Brazilian producers.

Intacta 2 Xtend is the third generation of soybean biotechnology - the second with Intacta technology - that Bayer brings to the Brazilian market, with the aim of taking the productive potential of crops to a new level. In an integrated way, the platform brings together all the tools that offer producers the best experience in cultivating crops.

In addition to the target pests of the Intacta RR2 Pro technology (leafworm, soybean caterpillar, apple bollworm and armpit borer), the launch offers additional protection against Helicoverpa armigera e Spodoptera cosmioides. The broad control of weeds in soybean crops is one of the pillars of the new Intacta 2 Xtend Platform. This benefit complements glyphosate tolerance with dicamba tolerance. The herbicide helps control broadleaf weeds and can be applied before sowing or even when planting Intacta 2 Xtend soybeans.
