Two juice manufacturing companies that were operating illegally were fined and closed as a precautionary measure in Ribeirão Preto (SP). The closure occurred when inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) received a complaint about the irregularity.
According to the team from the Superintendence of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (SFA-SP) that participated in the action, the factories operated without the proper registration with MAPA. SFA-SP is the ministry's representation in the state.
The allegations were confirmed during the inspection and MAPA opened an administrative proceeding. The companies have the right to present a written defense that will be assessed. Only after the end of the process, if the irregularity is confirmed, will the names be released.
In order for these establishments to reopen, they need to adapt their structures and obtain registration with MAPA. In addition to the lack of registration, inadequate sanitary conditions were found for the establishments to operate as beverage producers.
The department that investigates this type of irregularity is the Inspection Service for Products of Plant Origin (Sipov-SP). Mapa informs that complaints, compliments, requests and suggestions can be sent through the Fala BR platform, found on the Ministry of Agriculture website. This is a tool created by the Comptroller General of the Union that receives messages anonymously or not. This channel greatly assists in scheduling inspections.
