The alignment of inpEV (National Institute for Empty Packaging Processing) with the basic principles of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Brazil Network allowed the entity to be accepted as a signatory of the Compact. The group – which brings together 800 members in the country and 9.900 worldwide, including companies and non-profit entities – defends ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, which encourage organizations to develop actions to confront major challenges of society.
Many of inpEV's current initiatives already demonstrate their adherence to these principles, such as the eco-efficiency studies that prove the environmental benefits of the System, the Campo Limpo Environmental Education Program, which in 2018 addresses the SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, and the Day National do Campo Limpo, which promotes environmental awareness in the community.
The alignment of corporate actions with global standards is one of the great benefits of participating in the network. “It is important to be part of a group in which members have common interests, defending internationally accepted values. It represents a willingness to pursue a sustainable agenda together. We believe that this concentration of efforts and cooperation in discussing problems is essential for this trajectory to be successful”, says Maria Helena Zucchi Calado, Sustainability Manager at inpEV.
In Brazil, the projects developed are divided into Thematic Groups (Water and Sanitation, Food and Agriculture, Energy and Climate, Human Rights and Labor, Anti-Corruption and SDGs). inpEV participates in the Food and Agriculture Thematic Group, whose main objective is to guarantee food security in Brazil and in the world, promote sustainable production practices and use these new ways of working as a competitive differential to strengthen Brazilian agribusiness internationally.
