During the session, several senators and deputies highlighted the importance of telecommunications in the development of the sector in the country
First place in the 2019 Women of Agro Awards in the Large Properties category and, in 2020, ambassador of the initiative, Carla Sanches Rossato became a reference among rural producers in Paraná. Since childhood, she loved going to her farming family's farm. This passion continued during college, when she studied veterinary medicine and then decided to follow in her father's footsteps. "I've always had a real passion for rural life and I never saw myself doing anything else. My mother said that I wasn't raised on the hem of my mother's skirt, but rather on the hem of my father's pants", recalls Carla.
Thus, driven by the desire to follow her family, Carla ended up taking on the entire management of the business, which today involves four farms in the region of Sertaneja and Santa Mariana (PR). In total, the properties produce with corn, soybeans and cattle. "My father continues to work in the field, but before, I accompanied him. Now, he accompanies me", summarizes Carla.
In 2000, when the family acquired the last farm, in Icaraíma (PR), Carla took charge of the business and put into practice a more innovative management model. "The property was agricultural and I transformed it into livestock, but modern livestock. Everything with paddocks, rotation, with land analysis and fertilization. The pastures were divided in the shape of a pizza, with a central food court and we corrected the soil. Everything the cattle were tracked and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture. I'm eager to learn, I think we never know everything and we can always improve."
For corn and soybeans, Carla also stands out in precision agriculture: "I carry out soil analysis and correction at a variable rate, according to the specific needs of each area, and all my harvesters have a production map that informs what the lot is producing. When the harvest ends, I will check whether production is really matching the soil analysis map, to see where less production was produced and if there were any management errors", he explains.
At the same time as she took over management of the farm, Carla participated in meetings of professional associations, cooperatives and cereal producers. “Everyone got used to my presence,” she remembers. With this behavior, she began to stand out among rural producers in Paraná and, almost without realizing it, she became a reference: "I really like passing on my knowledge, helping and sharing. I always do field days on my properties to show the They know what works and what doesn't. I like to encourage and encourage these women, to show that they are capable, that they can and that the situation has changed a lot."
Due to her innovative management, Carla also stood out and won the Women of Agro Award in 2019, taking first place in the large property category. "The most beautiful thing was seeing the support from my friends who went with me to the award ceremony. They said I was going to win, but, for me, just having a story to submit for an award like that was already a victory. I love the that I do. And from the moment your work is recognized, everything becomes pleasurable and nothing is exhausting."
The third edition of the award is open for registration until September 15, 2020 at website. Carla will have a special participation in the competition, being one of the ambassadors, which will encourage the participation of other farmers in the awards. "Today I see the importance of sharing knowledge and supporting other producers. Exchanging information helps us a lot to evolve", she concludes.
