The demonstration of the use of drones to apply film that protects plants from stress caused by the sun will be one of the innovations presented during the XXVI Brazilian Fruit Culture Congress, which begins today, September 30th, and runs until October 04th, at the Complex Multi-events at the University of Vale do São Francisco (Univasf), in Juazeiro (BA).
The equipment in action can be seen on the third day of the event (02/10). The film is a type of sunscreen, which “lowers the temperature of the leaves and increases the plant’s thermal comfort”, explains professor Italo Hebert Lucena Cavalcanti, 10 Vice-President of the event’s organizing committee.
In tropical fruit growing, especially in irrigated areas of the semi-arid region, the use of inputs that alleviate plant stress in crops such as mangoes and grapes during the production cycle increases the productivity of orchards and improves the quality of harvested crops, says the professor .
Synergy - News like this will be the hallmark of the 26th edition of the CBF. The presence of the main experts from Brazil and abroad (South Africa, USA, European Union, Australia) during the programming of conferences, round tables, lectures, short courses and technical visits will give the event a “debate arena” dynamic with the exhibition of a “pool of very relevant technologies and information”, reveals Cavalcanti.
This situation highlights a movement of synergy between the private sector and Science & Technology institutions, which combines scientific rigor and practical results for production chains. That's why the XXVI CBF is rescuing the quality of being a “technical and practical event”, with actors who work directly with production and who make the fruit chain in the country: producers, private companies, researchers, teachers, students , enterprises that sell inputs, in addition to the public sector.
The event will express “the studies being carried out by researchers, teachers and students who envision the applicability and incorporation of knowledge that advance the use of technological innovations in the field and throughout the fruit growing production chains”. S&T institutions and proven companies will present “plenty” of technology, both basic and applied, that can be incorporated into production systems in the short and medium term.
This way of organizing the CBF was reflected in the number of registered professionals. “After several editions, we are seeing the return of professional interest in the congress, which is very positive and could not happen in a better place than Petrolina and Juazeiro, a region where the technique applied to fruit growing is undeniably one of the most advanced in the world. world”, emphasizes Italo.
Bond - The president of the XXVI CBF, Paulo Roberto Coelho Lopes, highlights the links established in scientific studies with the productive sector and society. For him, organizations such as the Brazilian Fruit Culture Society, the Federal University of Vale do São Francisco (Univasf) and Embrapa are taking important steps to modernize production techniques that lead to the rational use of inputs and water for irrigation, development of new varieties , phytosanitary and post-harvest management.
Fruit growing, practiced on 2,4 million hectares of Brazilian territory, directly employs 6 million people or 27% of the total generated by national agricultural production. According to Paulo Roberto, these numbers reflect the partnership between the public and private sectors and are heading towards “increasing the technical, social and economic sustainability of national fruit farming with impacts on job creation and increasing the competitiveness of Brazilian agriculture” , complete.
