This Wednesday (4), the AgriHub Space was opened in the capital of Mato Grosso, Cuiabá. The space will function as a startup incubator and will be a connection point between companies, rural producers, researchers, investors and the agricultural and innovation ecosystem. The initiative by LM Ventures and Sistema Famato has as one of the partner companies Tropical Melhoramento e Genética (TMG), together with Amaggi, Agro Amazônia/Sumitomo Corporation, Bayer and Rede de Fazendas Alfa. At the inauguration, the president of TMG, Francisco Soares Neto, showed the event participants the main areas of innovation at TMG that allow the launch of more productive products and open possibilities for the development of important genetic solutions in Brazil, in Latin American countries and in the United States.

Francisco Soares Neto highlighted that the company's purpose in being one of the creators of AgriHub Space is to participate in the innovation ecosystem to learn and interact with the sector. “TMG can act both as a company that seeks solutions in startups to improve internal processes, new product opportunities, business and disruptive innovations, but also as a company that can offer innovation to the market”, he stated.

The president also added that innovation has been present at TMG since the beginning of its history and that it is part of the company's culture to seek genetic solutions that transform the work and results of rural producers. “We will certainly have new opportunities to develop and expand gains for agriculture and that is why we believe in the initiative, he pointed out.

Innovation in native traits is one of the renowned examples of the Brazilian company that has given farmers the possibility of increasing productivity in areas that suffer from the presence of cyst nematodes, of coexisting with Asian soybean rust when using Stainless Steel Technology and also to combat the main cotton disease, ramularia, through a new technology in the world, RX. “We brought exclusivity in soy and cotton to problems that kept producers up at night, today we have a patent for our innovation and this encourages us even more to continue with this work that is different”, explained the president.

In addition to the development of grains and fibers, which is the company's genuine work, in recent years TMG has also become experienced in the deregulation of transgenic technologies, having won approval for the commercial use of the HB4 gene in soybeans in Brazil. TMG Research Manager, Alexandre Garcia, was at the inauguration of AgriHub Space and explained that there is work in progress for new deregulations in the country and that this initiative, added to others such as Gene Editing and the use of interference RNA, are incorporated into the scope of genetic solutions that TMG offers to the market. “We have a continuous search for innovation, new solutions, we are completely open to partnerships and collaborations”, he highlighted.

AgriHub Space is the first agriculture and livestock innovation hub in Mato Grosso and aims to find solutions and innovations for Brazilian agribusiness. It will function as a hub with physical space to connect and enable startups with potential to work and develop. Registration for the 1st Batch of selected candidates has been extended until December 18th. To find out more, visit www.agrihubspace.com.br.
