The Digital Arena, one of the new features of the 34th Official Opening of the Rice and Grain Harvest in Terras Baixas, will feature the knowledge and experience of two major universities in Rio Grande do Sul in the technological area. The Innovation advisor at the PUCRS Scientific and Technological Park, Luiz Villwock, and the Innovation superintendent at UFPel, Vinícius Freitas, are among the speakers invited to this debut of the Arena at the event, which takes place between the 21st and 23rd of February , at the Embrapa Temperate Climate Experimental Station, in Capão do Leão (RS).
The Head of Operations at Celeiro Agrohub at Tecnopuc, Luiz Villwock, will address the topic of agribusiness challenges and the role of innovation for the future. “I come to present some data and achievements that we are developing at Tecnopuc, such as the project that we are developing together with the city of Santa Rosa”, he says. He says he will also present data on the Rio Grande do Sul agribusiness innovation network, which is the agribusiness arm of the Gaúcha Network of Innovation Environments.
Vinícius Freitas considers the Digital Arena very important for showing that an event like the Harvest Opening begins to look at innovation as a means of developing the region and the country. “Especially in the area of agribusiness, we increasingly need to develop technologies within Brazil and our institutions and increasingly take advantage of and transform commodities into industrialized products to add value to what we produce here”, he states.
He also says that, even though the country is a large agricultural producer, it is also necessary to industrialize products within Brazil to create added value, generate employment, income and social development, consequently.
