The forecast for the week of May 5 to 12 is for heavy rains in the north of the North Region, northwest of Maranhão, east of Bahia and Sergipe, part of Alagoas, and south of Rio Grande do Sul. Volumes in these locations may exceed 60 mm.
According to Meteorological Bulletin No. 16/25 from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the weather will be stable for the rest of Brazil, especially in the Central-West and Southeast regions, in addition to the interior of the Northeast Region.
Na Northern Region, the greatest accumulations of rain will be concentrated in Roraima and Amapá, where the more northern position of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will favor the occurrence of volumes that may exceed 60 mm (orange and red tones).
Areas of instability may also favor the occurrence of significant rainfall in parts of Amazonas and Pará. Volumes between 20 and 40 mm (green tones) are forecast for the border of Amazonas, Acre and Rondônia, while in Tocantins and southeastern Pará, rainfall will not exceed 10 mm (blue tones).
Na North East Region, rains above 50 mm are expected to hit areas in the northwest of Maranhão, as well as the coast of Bahia, Sergipe and part of Alagoas (orange and red tones).
For the rest of the region, light rains of less than 20 mm (blue tones) are expected and in some locations there may be no rain and a reduction in relative humidity, especially in the west of Bahia, south of Maranhão and Piauí.
Na Midwest region, the forecast is for more localized rains over the northwest of Mato Grosso, with accumulations of less than 30 mm (green tones) during the week. Light rains may occur in the west of Mato Grosso do Sul, but the forecast is for clear weather in much of the region.
Na Southeast, light rain may occur in the eastern part, however the week will be dominated by stable weather throughout the week.
For South, the passage of a cold front at the beginning of the week should cause heavy rains over the south of Rio Grande do Sul, with volumes that could exceed 60 mm (orange and red tones).
In the north of Rio Grande do Sul and central-west of Santa Catarina, rainfall volumes between 10 and 20 mm (blue tones) are expected. In much of Paraná and northeast Santa Catarina, the forecast is for clear weather.
