Inmet: weather forecast for the week of May 12-19

Cold front in the South and heat above 34°C in areas of the Center-North mark the week

The week between May 12 and 19 will see heavy rainfall concentrated in the northern part of the North Region and on the coast of the Northeast. Accumulated rainfall may exceed 60 mm, according to the Inmet Cosmo model. The highest volumes will hit Roraima, Amapá, northern and western Pará and the central-northern Amazonas. In the Northeast, the highlight will be the coast of Bahia, where rainfall should persist throughout the week.

Meanwhile, dry weather will prevail in much of the country. In the Central-West and Southeast, rainfall is expected to be sporadic, with volumes of less than 20 mm, especially at the beginning of the week. In the South, the weather will remain stable, but the arrival of a cold front on the 18th and 19th could cause showers of up to 30 mm.

High maximum temperatures continue in the Center-North. In areas such as southern Pará, northern Mato Grosso and Maranhão, temperatures may exceed 34°C on the 18th. In the South, Southeast and part of the Center-West, maximum temperatures will be below 28°C.

Minimum temperatures are expected to fall in the South and Southeast regions, and could reach less than 14°C in mountainous areas, especially on the 14th. In the North and north of the Northeast, minimum temperatures will remain above 22°C.
