C4 photosynthesis is 50% more efficient, conserving energy and reducing water loss
Between November 25 and December 2, 2024, the forecast, according to the Cosmo numerical model of the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), is for accumulated rainfall in the central-western regions of Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Rainfall volumes are expected to exceed 50 mm. Check out the full forecast for the period:
Na Northern Region, areas of instability associated with heat and high humidity will cause heavy rain throughout the week, with accumulations below 50 mm (green tones) in Acre, Roraima and southern Pará. In the central-western part of Amazonas and in areas of Tocantins, rainfall may exceed 100 mm in some places (red to pink tones). The action of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to cause accumulations above 50 mm in northern Amapá. In northern Pará, south-central Amapá and much of Roraima, rainfall accumulations are expected to be below 20 mm.
Na North East Region, the forecast indicates an area of instability in the northeast of Bahia and Sergipe, which should cause accumulations above 50 mm between November 26 and 29. In the west of Bahia, south of Maranhão, south of Piauí and west of Pernambuco, rain showers may be isolated, with accumulations expected below 50 mm. In the other areas, the weather will remain hot and with a low probability of rain.
Na Midwest region, instabilities will persist, providing locally significant rainfall in Mato Grosso and western Goiás, with expected accumulations above 40 mm and possibly reaching 100 mm in some locations (red tones). In Mato Grosso do Sul and central-eastern Goiás, rainfall is expected to remain below 20 mm in the coming days.
Na Southeast, the trend is for stable weather in the coming days, with the possibility of rain in eastern São Paulo and southern Rio de Janeiro from the 29th, with an increase in areas of instability in the following days in almost the entire region, with the exception of the north-central part of Minas Gerais. The highest accumulations are forecast for eastern São Paulo, southern Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, with volumes below 50 mm.
Na South, the week will begin with instability in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, favoring rains in a large part of the state, with accumulations above 50 mm. The displacement of a frontal system will increase rainfall in the region, which may generate accumulations above 100 mm in areas of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina throughout the week.
