The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) concluded today (4/9) the weather forecast for the next two weeks. In the first, between the 4th and 11th of September, the largest accumulations of rain are predicted for the Southern Region of Brazil, especially in Rio Grande do Sul. See figure 1 (red and pink tones on the map).
In the central areas and interior of the Northeast Region, the forecast is for high temperatures, dry weather and low humidity (white tones on the map in figure 1).
Check out the detailed weather forecast for each region of the country for the next two weeks below.
North region: forecast of rain volumes exceeding 20 millimeters (mm) in northwestern Amazonas due to heat and high humidity. In Pará, Amapá, Rondônia and Tocantins, the weather will be dry and without rain.
Northeast Region: forecast of dry weather, without rain and low humidity, mainly in areas of Matopiba (a region that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in the interior of the Northeast. In areas of the east coast, temporary rain may occur.
Midwest region: the persistence of a mass of hot and dry air will leave the weather stable, without rain and with low humidity (values below 30%), mainly in the center-north of the region. However, at the beginning of the week, areas of Mato Grosso do Sul and the extreme south of Mato Grosso and Goiás may record low accumulated rainfall (less than 40 mm).
Southeast region: forecast of dry weather without rain, mainly in areas of central-northern Minas Gerais. In the north of the state of Minas Gerais, relative humidity values can be less than 30%. In the east of the region, storms may occur at the beginning of the week, but with low volumes of rain (less than 20 mm).
South region: At the beginning of the week, the action of a cold front will intensify the areas of instability, causing significant accumulations of rain, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Cataria and southern Paraná. Furthermore, starting next Thursday (7), a new frontal system (cold front) will cause large volumes in much of the center-south of the region. Considering the performance of the two systems, the accumulated rainfall could exceed 80 mm in areas of the south of Paraná and Santa Catarina and 150 mm in a large part of Rio Grande do Sul. In the extreme north of Paraná, the forecast is for lower volumes to 20 mm.
In the second week, between the 12th and 19th of September, the forecast indicates large amounts of rain, exceeding 90 mm, in a large part of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. In areas of the northwest of the country, volumes may exceed 50 mm. See figure 2.
In the north of the Central-West Region, in Matopiba (a region that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in a large part of the Northeast, the forecast is for dry weather and no rain throughout the week.
In other regions of the country, low volumes of rain (less than 30 mm) or occasional rain may occur.
North region: forecast of accumulated rainfall, which could exceed 30 mm in the northwest of Amazonas, Acre and the extreme north of Roraima. In other areas of the region, volumes must be less than 20 mm.
Northeast Region: forecast of low accumulated rainfall, less than 20 mm, on the east coast of the region. In areas of Matopiba (a region that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in the interior and north of the Northeast, the weather will be dry and without rain throughout the week.
Midwest and Southeast Regions: forecast of occasional rain or small volumes (less than 30 mm), mainly in areas in the west of Mato Grosso and between Minas Gerais, Goiás and the Federal District. Sunny days with high temperatures are not ruled out in most regions.
South region: forecast of significant rainfall accumulations exceeding 90 mm in the center and east of Rio Grande do Sul and south of Santa Catarina. In Paraná, volumes can exceed 30 mm in the east of the state and should be less than 20 mm in the west.
