Inmet: weather forecast between September 23th and 30th, 2024

The week will be marked by extreme weather conditions, with storms in the South Region and hot and dry weather in the Northeast and Central-West Regions

The week will be marked by storms in the South of the country. Figure 1 shows the forecast for accumulated rainfall, according to the Cosmo numerical model of the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), indicating that volumes may exceed 125,0 mm (represented in shades of red and pink) in areas of the South Region. This scenario is the result of the passage of a cold front forecast for the beginning of the week.

Forecast for September 23-30, 2024

For Northern Region, areas of instability associated with heat and high humidity will cause heavy rain throughout the week, with values ​​above 60,0 mm in the northwest of Amazonas, east of Acre and south of Roraima. With the possibility of isolated rains in Pará. In the other areas of the region, there is no forecast of rain.

Na North East Region The forecast is for hot and dry weather. However, at the beginning of the week, an increase in cloudiness is expected which could generate instability, resulting in isolated rain showers, especially in areas of the northeast and south of the region.

Na Midwest region The forecast is for hot and dry weather, except in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, where isolated rain showers cannot be ruled out.

Na Southeast Rain is expected in areas of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro at the end of the week, due to the advance of a frontal system that is moving towards the ocean. In other areas, the weather will remain hot and dry.

Na South, the week begins with storms in the south-central part of Rio Grande do Sul, due to the passage of a frontal system, with rainfall volumes that may exceed 125,0 mm. While in the south of Santa Catarina, the forecast is for isolated showers. However, from the 28th onwards, the weather will be good, bringing more stable conditions.
