The week between September 22nd and 29th will be marked by contrasts in Brazil's climate, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET). While the North region is expected to record the highest rainfall volumes, with accumulations exceeding 100 millimeters in Amazonas and Rondônia, areas in the Northeast and Central-West will face low humidity levels and the risk of localized storms. In the South and Southeast, the passage of cold fronts is expected to bring episodes of heavy rain, strong winds, and hail in isolated areas.
Na Northern Region, the combination of high humidity, heat, and wind circulation favors the formation of areas of instability and heavy clouds. The highest rainfall volumes are expected between Amazonas and Rondônia, with accumulations that could exceed 100 mm, especially in western Amazonas. In Tocantins, southern Pará, Acre, and Roraima, the average volume is expected to be no more than 20 mm. Between northern Pará and Amapá, the weather is expected to remain dry, with only isolated showers in some areas.
No Northeast, the forecast indicates a predominance of dry weather in much of the interior, especially in Bahia, Piauí, central Ceará and western Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, where air humidity may fall below 25%. Until Wednesday (24), areas of instability may cause isolated rains in the south and west of Bahia, southern Maranhão and Piauí. From Thursday (25), the rain tends to gain intensity on the coast of Bahia and in Sergipe.
Na Midwest region, a frontal system is expected to cause storms between Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás and the Federal District, mainly between Monday (22) and Wednesday (24). Accumulated rainfall is expected to range from 10 to 20 mm, but there is a risk of gusts of wind, lightning and hail in isolated areas. Starting Thursday, the conditions for rain will decrease, with only isolated showers remaining, while humidity is expected to increase throughout the week.
Now at Southeast, the advance of the frontal system should favor increased rainfall. The largest volumes, up to 40 mm, are forecast for São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and southern Minas Gerais, with a risk of storms, strong winds, and hail until Wednesday (24). In other areas, localized rainfall is forecast throughout the week. The advance of instability should also contribute to increased humidity in much of the region.
No Sul, the beginning of the week will be marked by the passage of a cold front, which is expected to bring storms to central and northern Paraná, with strong winds and hail. Over the next few days, rainfall is expected to decrease across most of the region, with precipitation restricted to the coasts of Paraná and Santa Catarina. However, over the weekend, instability is expected to strengthen again over Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
