Inmet: weather forecast between September 11th and 27th, 2023

In the first week, between the 11th and 18th of September, the highest rainfall accumulations are predicted for the center-south of Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to the northwest of the country.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) concluded today (11/9), the weather forecast for the next two weeks. In the first, between the 11th and 18th of September, the largest accumulations of rain are predicted for the center-south of Rio Grande do Sul (red and pink tones on the map), in addition to the northwest of the country (orange and red tones in the map). 

In the central portion of Brazil and in the interior of the Northeast Region, hot and dry weather is forecast throughout the week (white and blue tones on the map).

Forecast for the 1st week (11/09/2023 to 18/09/2023):

For Northern Region, rainfall volumes greater than 50 millimeters (mm) are predicted in areas of northwestern Amazonas due to the heat and high humidity. In other areas of the region, there will be a predominance of dry weather and no rain.

Na North East Region, the weather continues with varying cloudiness and passing rain across the entire coastal strip, but mainly between the coast of Paraíba and Alagoas throughout the week due to the transport of moisture from the ocean. In other areas, such as Matopiba (an area that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in the interior of the region, the forecast is for hot weather with low humidity.

in the regions Midwest e Southeast, the persistence of a mass of hot and dry air will leave the weather stable, without rain and with low humidity, mainly in the center-north of the region. However, at the beginning of the week, areas of Mato Grosso do Sul and southwest of Mato Grosso may record low accumulated rainfall (less than 50 mm). In addition to the possibility of rain between the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais and the Federal District between the 15th and 16/09.

Already in South, at the beginning of the week, the action of a cold front will intensify the areas of instability, causing significant volumes of rain, especially in Rio Grande do Sul. Accumulated rainfall may exceed 100 mm in much of Rio Grande do Sul, however volumes of less than 40 mm are predicted over western Santa Catarina and southern Paraná. In the north of Paraná, the forecast is for volumes of less than 10 mm.

In the second week, between the 19th and 27th of September, the forecast indicates large amounts of rain, greater than 70 mm, in the northwest of the country. In a large part of Central Brazil and in the interior of the Northeast, there is a forecast of dry and no rain throughout the week. 

Forecast for the 2st week (19/09/2023 to 27/09/2023):

For the North Region, accumulations greater than 70 mm are predicted in western Amazonas and Roraima. In Acre, Rondônia and in central areas of Roraima, the forecast is for low accumulated rainfall. In other areas, there is no rain forecast.

Na North East Region, in turn, the weather continues with variations in cloudiness and passing rain across the entire coastal strip, but mainly on the coast of Pernambuco and Paraíba throughout the week. In other areas, such as Matopiba (an area that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in the interior of the region, the forecast is for hot weather with low humidity.

in the regions Midwest e Southeast, hot and dry weather is forecast for practically the entire week.

Na South, there is a forecast of significant rainfall, less than 50 mm, in areas between the center and east of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. In other areas, accumulated lows of less than 15 mm may occur.
