The week will be marked by large volumes of rain in the central region of the country. Figure 1 shows the forecast for accumulated rainfall, according to the Cosmo numerical model of the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), indicating that volumes may exceed 100 mm in some locations in Amazonas, Mato Grosso, south-central Mato Grosso do Sul and western São Paulo (represented in shades of red and pink).

Forecast for October 29 to November 04, 2024

Na Northern Region, rainfall accumulations are expected mainly in the western and southern portions of Amazonas, southern Tocantins and Rondônia, with volumes between 30 and 80 mm (shades of green and yellow). In some locations, accumulations may exceed 80 mm (shades of red). Areas further north, such as Amapá, north-central Pará and parts of Roraima, show smaller accumulations, below 10 mm (shades of blue).

Na North East Region, the forecast is for hot and dry weather in much of the region. However, on Thursday (31/10), there is a tendency for increased cloudiness, especially in the west and south of Bahia, south of Piauí and Maranhão, which may generate instability, resulting in isolated rain showers. In addition, there are conditions for isolated rain showers on the coast of the eastern strip of the Northeast, with accumulations that may exceed 20 mm, mainly in the south of Bahia.

To the Midwest Regions e Southeast, a moisture channel associated with the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) will cause significant accumulations in the strip that goes from Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, with accumulations between 30 and 80 mm. Starting on November 02, areas of instability will intensify and will cause rain showers in Mato Grosso do Sul and central-western São Paulo, which may record accumulations above 11 mm (red and pink tones). In eastern São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, areas of instability may cause rainfall of up to 80 mm.

Na South, the week begins with stable weather in much of the region, with possible isolated rains in Paraná and eastern Santa Catarina on the 30th and 31st. From November 03rd, areas of instability will intensify in Paraná and, later, in Santa Catarina, favoring heavy rains with accumulated precipitation between 11 and 20 mm. The trend is for stable weather in much of Rio Grande do Sul in the coming days.
