Inmet released today the weather forecast for November 4-11, 2021. According to the report, the week will be marked by large volumes of rain between the central region of the country and Amazonas. The forecast for accumulated rainfall (Figure 1), according to the Cosmo numerical model of the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), indicates that volumes may exceed 100 mm in some locations in Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Goiás, and in the west of São Paulo and Minas Gerais (represented in shades of red and pink).
Na Northern Region, areas of instability associated with heat and high humidity will cause rain showers throughout the week, with accumulations above 50 mm in the central-western part of Amazonas, and may exceed 100 mm in some places. Accumulations of up to 50 mm, resulting from rain showers, may occur in Acre, Rondônia, Tocantins and in the south of Pará. In the other areas of the Region, rain will be isolated, with the exception of the north of Pará and part of Amapá, where the chance of rain is low.
Na North East Region, the forecast is for hot and dry weather in much of the Region. However, there is a tendency for increased cloudiness, especially in the east and south of Bahia from today onwards, extending throughout the week, with accumulations that may exceed 20 mm, mainly in the south of Bahia. In the south of Piauí, Maranhão and in the west of Bahia, an increase in cloudiness is expected that may generate instability and isolated rain showers.
To the Midwest Regions e Southeast, the combination of hot and humid air mass with the passage of troughs at low and medium levels of the atmosphere will cause instability and locally significant rainfall in Mato Grosso, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, south-central Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with accumulations above 100 mm in some locations.
Na South, the week will begin with areas of instability in much of the region, favoring isolated rains. From November 7th, these instabilities will intensify in Rio Grande do Sul due to the formation of a frontal system, favoring rain showers with accumulated amounts between 30 and 70 mm. With the advance of this system towards the ocean, the trend will be for stable weather in much of Rio Grande do Sul from November 9th, and in Santa Catarina and Paraná in the following days.
