Inmet: weather forecast between June 26th and July 11th

Between the 26th of June and the 3rd of July, the highest rainfall is expected for the extreme north of the country, in addition to areas in the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul and the east coast of the Northeast Region.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) concluded, this Monday (26/06), the weather forecast for the next two weeks. In the first, between the 26th of June and the 3rd of July, the largest accumulations of rain are predicted for the extreme north of the country, in addition to areas in the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul and the east coast of the Northeast region (green and yellow on the map in figure 1).

In the center-south of Brazil, the interior of the Northeast Region and the south of the North Region, dry weather should predominate throughout the week (white and blue tones on the map in figure 1).

Forecast for the 1st week (26/06/2023 to 03/07/2023):

North region: rainfall volumes greater than 30 mm are expected in much of the center and north of the region, and may exceed 50 mm in areas of northwestern Amazonas and northern Roraima and Amapá due to the heat and high humidity. In other areas, such as Rondônia, Acre, Tocantins and the south of the region, dry weather without rain will predominate.

Northeast Region: forecast of accumulated rainfall exceeding 40 mm in the extreme north of Maranhão. On the coast of Pernambuco, Paraíba and Sealba (an area that covers the states of Sergipe, Alagoas and northeastern Bahia), there may be low accumulated rainfall at the beginning of the week due to the transport of moisture from the ocean. In other areas, such as Matopiba (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) and in the interior and north of the region, the weather will be stable and dry throughout the week.

Midwest and Southeast Regions: a mass of dry air will leave the weather stable and without rain. Furthermore, the forecast indicates low relative humidity, with values ​​below 30%, mainly in the Central-West and Triângulo Mineiro.

South region: The instability associated with the passage of a cold front across the ocean could cause rainfall in the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul, with amounts that could exceed 50 mm. In other areas, dry weather and no rain are forecast throughout the week.

In the second week, between the 4th and 11th of July, the forecast is for large amounts of rain, greater than 60 mm, in areas of the South and Northwest of the country. In much of Central Brazil and the interior of the Northeast , the weather should remain dry and without rain. See figure 2. 

Forecast for the 2st week (04/07/2023 to 11/07/2023):

North region: forecast of accumulations greater than 30 mm in practically the entire north of the region, with volumes greater than 60 mm in areas of the northwest of Amazonas and in Roraima. In southern areas of the region, no significant rain is expected.

Northeast Region: Low accumulated rainfall is expected, which could exceed 30 mm in areas of the east coast and north coast of Maranhão. In Matopiba (an area that covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia), the north and interior of the region, there is no rain forecast and dry weather predominates.

Midwest and Southeast Regions: the forecast is for dry weather throughout the week.

South region: possibility of significant rainfall accumulations, greater than 80 mm, in areas between the north of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and the south of Paraná. In other areas, accumulated lows of less than 30 mm may occur, while in the north of Paraná, the forecast is for dry weather and no rain.
